this forum and exhibition was organised by PEMANDU - Performance Management & Delivery Unit. Established under the Prime Minister's Department, they were there at KL Convention Centre to present background information as well as the facts and figures of subsidy implemented in different sectors in our country and to discuss whether the government should continue subsidizing sectors of education, health, fuel, electricity and so on.
as a concerned citizen, i went there to check out this event.
this event received a very good response. it was overcrowded that many of us had to stand and watch the entire forum. there were also some people sitting on the floor straight. apparently, the organiser did not allocate a sufficient space to accommodate the crowd that came for this forum. many questions raised by the concerned rakyat during Q&A session were not answered. there were even some very good questions and facts raised up by Tony Pua, the MP for PJ Utara. however, nothing much has been explained or clarified by the team. A very clear message i got from this event is the govt will anyhow still proceed its plan of removing subsidies with time frame they have proposed regardless the true opinions from rakyat. as a common rakyat struggling to survive in this city, we will be required to find more ways to gain extra income to cover our increasing basic expenses. so, be prepared for it.
after Q&A session we proceeded to visit the exhibition area where statistics, problems as well as proposed solutions were exhibited booth by booth as according to the categories subsidized by the govt. complimentary buffet lunch was provided to all visitors. i had a quick lunch, visited some of the booths, and that's the end of lab open day.
the following day it was reported on the star news that majority of our rakyat supports the govt's decision to reduce subsidies on the areas mentioned. nv reported was the suggestions and opinions raised by the concerned rakyat during the forum that the news reader should be informed of.
